Certain things come with a price

why do things turn out like this..? you ask..
why must life churn out the worst possible scenarios for me..? you wonder..
why cant i just be given a break.? you ponder..

You realize that the things that you treasure and value the most are the ones that you know the actual consequence of losing it.
In short, it means you know what its really like to lose it which is why you are holding on to it ever so more tightly.

Don't you make it a point to cast a second glance at your personal belongings to know where they are, as you have lost them once?

Don't you lovingly wash your cars or (in some cases bikes) as you know that losing it is like losing a limb (plus long term monetary investment)?

What I'm trying to get is that, if you apply it to humans in terms of lifespan, relationships, family. Its about the same principle.

When you have a near-death experience, you begin to appreciate life on a whole new level.
If your loved one barely made it through a high-risk operation, you vow never to leave her side unnecessarily.

That's the funny thing about human nature, we have to taste the seeds of pain, loss and suffering before we grab hold onto it firmly and never let it go. The good news is that, we just have to taste a little bit of it to know that the actual percentage would be excruciatingly painful.
