people are all the same

Julio Noboa Polanco -Identity.

Let THEM be as flowers,
always watered, fed, guarded, admired,
but harnessed to a pot of dirt.

I'd rather be a tall, ugly weed,
clinging on cliffs, like an eagle
wind-wavering above high,jagged rocks.

To have broken through the surface of stone,
to live, to feel exposed to the madness
of the vast, eternal sky.
To be swayed by the breezes of an ancient sea,
carrying my soul, my seed,
beyond the mountains of time or into the abyss of the bizarre.

I'd rather be unseen, and if
then shunned by everyone,
than to be a pleasant-smelling flower,
growing into clusters in the fertile valley,
when they are praised, handled, and plucked
by greedy, human hands.

I'd rather smell of musty, green stench
than of sweet, fragrant lilac.
If i could stand alone, strong and free,
I'd rather be a tall, ugly weed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I'm an ugly weed
at least i know who my true friends are
i feel very conflicted
I'm not be best person to comment on such issues
cause i have my fair share of bitching

which explains the duplicitous side of people
which obviously includes me
its undeniable than people like to look at pretty things
Since young, we've been plunged into a world where perfection is the only thing it could be
Second best is not good enough
you must be the best
Most societies practice this in aspects of peoples' career and education

but when you start quantifying certain aspects of your life
there is a bigger tendency that you will tend to look at every other aspect in a certain mathematical way
unquantifiable and intangible things like beauty and love gets -quantified- in the most absurd ways.
Beauty products are judged by how expensive they are.
people just don't go for the reliable methods like 'getting adequate rest' and 'lots of fruits and vegetables'
The increasing number of slimming and beauty centres being established in Singapore is enough to tell you that society is subconsciously promoting such perspectives - where beauty will bring you success.

The absurdity gets worst when we see how couples quantify love
where the 'gifts' each partner buys shows the extent of love
which in fact is highly incorrect
Sincerity is what really matters right?

Maybe we are having too much of something
too much that some people find it hard to swallow
remenber the old saying
that everything must be done in moderation
and i firmly believe that everything,
even if it derives large positive externalities.
should be done in moderation.

im gonna step away from technology for awhile
when everything around you starts to look mechanical and unfamiliar
its time to take a step back
but wait, have we been taught that?
All these years of education, we have been drilled to progress forward.
step into unchartered waters.
How do you step back?
Isnt that something to worry about?

IF we are plunged backwards
the dangers are far greater than progressing forward
when you are progressing forward, at least you are progressing with a certain amount of confidence and hope.
(yes, it's all hope)
but when you are thrown into the backseat and you are not standing at the forefront anymore
how do you deal with it?
How do you deal with failure?
How do you settle the unsettling feelings within you?

Maybe the reason why no one has taught us how to deal with failure
is because failure was never an option to begin with
where failure should never have occured at all.
